Dealer Fee Explained

What the Dealer Conveyance/Processing  Fee Covers:

  • Document Preparation - Preparing all paperwork related to the vehicle sale, including the bill of sale, title, registration documents, and sales tax paperwork.
  • Title and Registration Services - Submitting paperwork to the DMV to register the vehicle and transfer the title to the buyer's name.
  • Processing Lien Information - If the buyer is financing the vehicle, the dealership handles the submission of lienholder information to ensure proper processing.
  • Clerical and Administrative Work - Covers internal dealership labor, such as employees' time spent coordinating and filing documents, handling compliance tasks, and ensuring legal paperwork is completed correctly.

Important Notes:

  • This fee is not mandated by the state, but dealerships are allowed to charge it.
  • In Connecticut (where Napoli Motors is located), dealerships must clearly disclose the conveyance fee in writing.
  • The fee does not include DMV registration fees, taxes, or optional services like extended warranties.
  • When the Buyer elects were appropriate to submit the documentation for registration and transfer of ownership to the commissioner of motor vehicles, the dealer conveyance fee shall be reduced by $35.00.
*Note: If a lienholder or record exists, the dealer must submit the documentation to the department of motor vehicles.
